The mild summer of 2009 is behind us. It is time to get into "winter" golf mode. The sun rises much earlier now that daylight savings has ended. That's great if you're an early bird, not so great if a twilight round is in your bag.
The course welcomes you regardless of the time of day you prefer to play. This year we prepared the green surrounds, tees and approaches with a light overseeding of rye grass. This will provide a slightly different shade of green to the land, as the warm season grass types go dormant from the cold mornings. This light overseed will also provide a better playing condition around the greens. In theory, the ball will rest on top of the new rye plants as opposed to nestling down into the sleeping paspalum.
The course improvements of 2009 have been well received by our guests and loyal customers alike. We look forward to improving the irrigation system, cleaning up neglected areas and staying on an employee training program to make your golfing experience at BGC the best it can be.
